Llucmajor (S’Arenal)

Pancaritat to the quarry of the Pancaritat de Llucmajor

Llucmajor (S’Arenal)

Sanctuary or destination point

This pancaritat has been held in this place since 2002. Between 1990 and 2000 it was built on the Pont de ses Set Boques (Bridge of the Seven Mouths), the longest railway aqueduct in Mallorca, which belongs to the Santanyí line, closed in 1964. However, due to problems with the property, in 2001 it was transferred to the Porciúncula on a provisional basis and, from 2002, it has been carried out in an old sandstone quarry, known since then as the Pancaritat Quarry. This new site was chosen because it was available and because it evokes the past of the Arenal, when the activity of sandstone breakers had been of great relevance.
